"Justin Hughes" (justinhughes54)

My new horns arrived yesterday, and there was much rejoicing. And then it occurred to me, “Hella and the Supertones” would be an excellent name for a band. I imagine they’d play Motown, but maybe with a modern twist that would make them “hella good.”
What other car based band names can you think of? Obviously some, like REO Speedwagon, already exist. What else can Oppo come up with? And what kind of music would they play?

Charger Hellcat would be a pretty sweet band name.

Or Challenger Hellcat. Hellcat Challenger? Any of these would work. Probably a heavy metal band.

Hella and the Supertones sounds more like a ska band to me. I think it’s because of the O.C. Supertones.
Also, there used to be a motown/classic rock cover band in my grandparents home town that I used to see flyers for all the time. They were called “Big Cam and the Lifters”

Ahem, yes, horn-geeking over. Correct on the band name thing.

I’ve got a notepad where I write down these names. I once tried to launch a thing called the Jalopnik Jazz Festival with car inspired names:
Richard Mixture & The Leaky Gaskets
Alex Seven & The Apex Seals
The Weber Street Trumpet Quartet
Roland Coal & His Truck Nutz
Aeromorgan & Wooden Chazzy Trio
I got many more... I wish I could make it into a thing.

Interference Engine - likely techno
Bye, Turbo - indie hipster band
Slush box - 90’s alternative
Rack Johnson and the Pinions
Bumpsteer - nu-metal
Tailgates - really annoying Americana band composed of a husband and wife duo who can’t actually sing
The Muffler Bearings - another weird indie band. They’d probably play at some old dive like the Triple Crown.
Differential - kind of like Nickelback.

Thundercougarfalconbird.
They’d play heavier-sounding rock similar to the classic-rock genre but with some speed-metal sections in lieu of guitar solos.

If I had musical talent and had started a band I would have called it Bent Pushrod.
The Pink Slips
K-Jet and the Side Drafts
Centerlock and the Whitewalls
Cracked Block
The Hoffmeister Kinks
That was fun!
